I'm new to this...

Any tips for the best air fare from western US to London??

I'm in Reno but could easily travel to San Francisco or even to San Diego
(where i have friends to visit anyway) If I could get a better fare from a larger hub.

Is travel from one airport cheaper than some of the others? and any Airline recommendations?
Also timing.... I assume summer is the highest fare time....any month that's the lowest?

I'm reluctant to book until I have my passport in hand anyway.

(I applied early April) and the web site indicates 10-12 weeks but from what I hear it's longer..
Been 14 weeks now for me....but they tell me...soon.....

Thanks.

i got my passport a few years ago thru the POST OFFICE. paid the extra for "rush service" and it was worth it. i think if it gets really silly wait-wise you can go to the federal bldg and harangue them.

what´s wrong w/LAX? it´s a seriously major airport and i would recommend either LAX or SFO over san diego. I´m real big on direct flights (you may not be) and i really liked air new zealand. they are NOT the cheapest, but quite comfortable and pleasant. my gf likes virgin atlantic, but once again, these are DIRECT flights and may be a little more than you were budgeting for. keep in mind that the first place you land on return to the usa is where you go thru customs--even if it is NOT your final destination.
