Hey

Depends where you flying from or flying too in Africa. So if you can give me a lil more detail im sure I could hook you up with some good info.

I am South African and know that SAA (South African Airways) fly's directly to Cape Town from Fort Lauderdale and directly to Johannesburg from NYC. Id suggest that you fly via SA and then fly north and maybe end your trip in London where flights to the US are really not all that expensive (+/- $300) . Also, all the major African airlines fly to and from SA which I cannot say for other African countries. And getting cheap flights in and out of northern African countries could be quite costly...SA is more developed and therefore cheaper cause it has and gives more access. So ya, I think SA is your best bet and then fly north and fly back to the US via London.

Hmmm if you want more exact pricing - I got friends down in Fort Lauderdale that work for SAA America as travel agents and they could give you better advice and real pricing. Lemme know if you're interested and I will forward their emails to you, aswell as let them know you will contact them. :)

Hope that helps

Fern :)

Well, there is an article about this on my website. :-)

But, I'll give you the highlights. On travel.yahoo.com check out flights with the "my date is flexible" option selected. Also try the "dream maps" which show the cheapest flights to regions of the world.

If you can't find a cheap enough flight using yahoo then look into buying two separate tickets. Flights to and from Bangkok are very cheap. Someone on Lonely Planet's thorntree should be able to give you the current prices for flights from Bangkok to South Africa and Kenya.

Cheers,
-Adam :-)

I'd say fly via Johannesburg, will still cost you less i think.
Or NYC - London - Nairobi? that could work too no?

Yea - British Airways - fly via London - then directly to Johannesburg. That's what I did. I checked big folks like Expedia - was kinda expensive - then found accidently company called MIG Travel - they run a website - Cheap Tickets Finder - called them and liked the price. Booking is over the phone.

here is the their number - 877-433-6796.

let me know if it worked for anyone.
