Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets

Sun, June 3, 2007 - 11:25 PMwhere are you leaving from, i can't tell from skimming your profile.
i go to spain a lot and fly with these folks : www.swiss.com
they aren't the rock bottom, but they're pretty reliable and relatively inexpensive. they have a summer special on right now. -

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Mon, June 4, 2007 - 2:27 AMyou guys this is obviously spam. Somebody was complaining about a bad experience with a guy named Mike at airtech a while back and they are trying to regenerate business. This emily perosn had zero friends and only this posting on tribe (hello: some street performer friends).
This makes me not want to ever use airtech.

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Sun, June 17, 2007 - 12:17 PMok i've got to say something...it was me that was complaining about airtech and mike from a bad experience two year's ago...yes, this emily does probably work for airtech and is trying to gain business- a tribe no-no!
but...after whining about him, to him and others and being threatened by him to remove my tribe posting, after two years finally i saw $50 in my old paypal account this spring...
hey emily, you could just end this by clicking to remove your posting, you have this ability...and, btw..it's a dead give away by not having any friends...
thanx margot for calling the spammers on their shit! -

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Thu, August 30, 2007 - 4:34 PMSimon,
I thought we had declared a truce! Emily was a customer that came to me from a network of New York and European street performers, some of them well known, they all love airtech and appreciate it enough to recommend it, this is how we have stayed in business since 1993, not by making enemies, but by making friends, thousands and thousands of them that couldnt afford high airfare to Hawaii and Europe. We are recommended by Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, Arthur Frommers and other well known guide books and travel websites, we are not a fly by night company but rather a unique company that offers an alternative approach to travel. I am really sorry that your experience sucked, you were right and we were wrong and it took us too long to realize that but in the end we refunded to you the disputed $50, our refund fee. Emily does not have to remove that post because it is true, i have all of the emails from her praising our service. So you are the one that needs to take your false email down and stop hating on us, i still believe that if we were to meet we would like each other.
www.airtech.com or 212-219-7000 x2
Peace

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Mon, September 3, 2007 - 12:05 PMthats really rude. "the thing that sucks is tribe gets spammed a lot". I think what sucks is people's lack of faith in other people. this whole thing may make you never want to use airtech but i found it really fucking cheap, its the only reason i could start traveling. this makes me never want to meet you in real life.
mikes a nice guy, its cheap, if you don't like it you don't have to be rude to me "margot"

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Mon, June 4, 2007 - 8:26 AMAir India $610 rt from lax to Frankfurt....swiss air....$ 1071.96...to frankfurt....The title of the tribe is "Cheap International Travel" I wouldn't call Swiss Air relatively inexpensive! And this is in the fall! -
-
Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Wed, June 13, 2007 - 10:34 PMkrishna,
the flight in question was from lax to spain, not frankfurt. air india doesn't fly to spain from lax, so your point is moot. -

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Fri, June 15, 2007 - 9:06 AMWell, I guess I was talking about getting to Europe, I wouldn't call Swiss air cheap international travel. Once there you can get to Spain easily. Ryan air, Easy Jet, BMI....etc. I will be there in Oct. doing Germany, Spain and Morocco......
You are very cute with your Angel wings !....Luvs to you, Krishna -

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Fri, June 15, 2007 - 1:53 PMfor me, the convenience of:
not having to cover possible lodging costs (related to connecting flights)
only having ONE company to deal with
not having to worry about missed connections (and possible fees related to re-scheduling)
baggage arriving at the same time as me
are worth the extra dollars. i had a bit of an odyssey last summer "saving money" with multiple carriers--i lost at least one piece of valuable luggage (hard to replace work-related items) and had to pay for my own lodging in london for 3 nights.
one could also save quite a bit flying with an american carrier, but you have to deal with their weirdnesses (cancellations, strange transfer points and other inconveniences.)
i initially discovered swiss because they were the cheapest non-american carrier for my trip to spain a few years ago. i was going in the winter so i didn't want to transfer in nyc/east coast (snow) or get stuck in atlanta when delta would probably cancel the flight.
all said, i agree that swiss isn't *cheap* but there's no "less expensive in'tl airfare" tribe. ;)
not sure where you saw the angel wings, but thanks for the compliment anyway. -

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Fri, June 15, 2007 - 3:13 PMYeah, I understand....Everyone travels differently. I would never have a layover in London and stay in a hotel if it wasn't paid for by business, etc. They are tiny and very expensive. The pound kills the dollar...
I prefer to just get on the continent or nearby and use the local flights, they are so great & reasonable....I have had flights for $19 dollars. A lot of people don't know these flights are so cheap. If you are on the road for a long time or a RTW you know you have to do it as cheap as possible, a few extra dollars saved here and there really adds up. If you're on a quickie then no, you need convenience.
Have you ever shipped work stuff ahead? I did that and it seemed to work out very well, you don't have to worry about over charging you for excess weight and it gets there without you having to dick around with it. I trust UPS more than the airlines.
Light and laughter....Krishna -

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Fri, June 15, 2007 - 8:10 PMI have not posted about what I've found, since I'm not going until the fall, and I'm headed to Paris/Amsterdam. Will post more when I know more!
Thanks for the current tidbits, though.

Re: cheap europe/northeast tickets
Sat, June 16, 2007 - 3:25 PMthe london layover w/hotel stay wasn't planned/desired--i flew back the day of the "liquid explosive" incident at heathrow so i got stuck in zurich until after my london/usa flight left. i decided i'd rather spend the weekend in a country where i speak the local language (and i'd also never spent any time in london outside heathrow.) since i'd booked connecting flights myself i was responsible for the lodging costs.
i don't travel lightly when i go to europe. i stay with my gf who's from here, so i'm always taking stuff for her in addition to the things *i* need while i'm there. once i get to spain and can lighten my load (i.e., leave things w/gf) i can take advantage of the ryanair/easy jet fares.
last time the excess baggage/weight fee was only $25 (or was it $50?) and that's a LOT less than it would cost to ship said item w/ups (it weighs about 30lbs.)
when i'm ready to do a rtw trip i might hit you up for suggestions!
as you may know, next year ryanair may be flying out of the us (open skies comes into effect.)
thanks, man. -
