Re: can you take a one way to thailand from canada ?
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 12:18 AMNo problem, I bought a one way ticket to Thailand from San Fran and there was no issue with immigration. I'm here now and it seems to be a common thing for backpackers to do. You never know where you'll want to go next. Just be sure you don't over stay your visa. -

Wed, February 6, 2008 - 9:12 AMImmigration's not generally the problem, actually--there HAVE been reports of folks getting refused entry to their flights in the originating country, since, legally, you're supposed to prove you'll leave within 30 days.
But once you're on the plane, I've never heard of anyone having trouble with the Thai authorities. If anyone says anything (and again, they almost never do), just tell them you'll be leaving for Malaysia by train or for Cambodia by bus, which will explain your lack of onward ticket. Theoretically, this ought to work for home-country airport employees, too, although I've never heard of anyone using this tactic.
Although the risk is small, you might also consider getting a cheap ticket out, on something like Air Asia, which you can either use or not use as you see fit.
Have a good trip!

Fri, March 7, 2008 - 8:51 PMTechnically you're supposed to have it for immigration, but I don't think Thai authorities care. I've had friends have to buy emergency ticket back at the airport in New Zealand b/c they wouldn't let them board without a flight back. But that was NZ, not Thailand.
Perhaps have a print out e-ticket type thing to show anyone if they bother you. Or "proof" of a train ticket elsewhere. Might come in handy. Not sure how strict Canada is.
